Expository Map

Observe the text before you move it. This map builds during Phase 2 (Observe) and deepens through Phase 3 (Listen).

Text Movements

Identify the major movements in the passage (e.g., vv. 1–3 → vv. 4–6 → vv. 7–10). What shifts — tone, speaker, subject, imagery?

Key Verbs and Imagery

Who acts? To whom? Toward what end? Note surprising verbs, repeated words, and dominant images.

Theological Center

One sentence: what is this text doing to the reader/hearer?

Canonical Echoes

Where else does this language or imagery appear in Scripture? Brief, precise cross-references.
